FPC-Kingwood Invites Members, Community to Rally Day 2008
Aug 15, 2008
Event also serves as the unveiling of FPC-Kingwood's ‘new look'
First Presbyterian Church-Kingwood will host Rally Day 2008 on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the church campus, located at 5520 Kingwood Drive. The "new look" of the church's communications items including a redesigned logo and website will also be unveiled in conjunction with the event.
Rally Day is an annual celebration during which FPC-Kingwood members commit to volunteer throughout the year for the church's many programs and activities, and also serves as an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the church, said FPC-Kingwood Senior Pastor Dr. Jim Davis.
"Rally Day is a pep rally to get our members excited about serving our church, community and the world, as we have several programs that provide assistance to our own members, local charities and those in other countries," said Davis. "But we also encourage those who have visited or are considering joining to come out and see what we have to offer."
Congregants and visitors, for example, might be interested in participating in the ongoing mission work of FPC-Kingwood in several states, as well as in other countries including Mexico and Peru - where members have provided goods, built and maintained churches, and ministered, said Davis.
The abundance of volunteer opportunities at the congregational level are diverse and include helping with Sunday services, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday-school classes, working with children's programs such as Vacation Bible School, and joining the church leadership as a deacon or elder, among many others, he said.
Booths with descriptions of all of FPC-Kingwood's programs will be manned by church volunteers for the four-hour, come-and-go Rally Day event. Refreshments will be served and a face-painting station will be provided for children. The first visitors will receive a T-shirt with the church's new logo and tagline: FPC-Kingwood-A Family of Faith. A Home for You.
"We really have something for everyone and in that spirit we welcome the community to join our family of faith and visit our church home on Rally Day," said Davis.
First Presbyterian Church-Kingwood is located at 5520 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood, TX. With over 2,000 members, FPCK is the fourth-largest congregation in the 112-member New Covenant Presbytery.
