First Presbyterian Church-Kingwood has a wide variety of opportunities for you to improve your relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to help you become the woman God created you to be. Our Women's Ministry is vibrant and strong. All we need is you!

Weekly Opportunities

Refining Women– We will meet on Monday afternoons from 1:00 -2:30 p.m. in the chapel for an in-depth Bible study with homework.

Monday Footsteps - meets on Mondays from 9:30 - 11:00 am in the Parlor.  Women of all ages are welcome and childcare is provided for this study by reservations to ext. 121.  This year (2011/2012) we will study: the Book of Ephesians, by NT Wright, Prodigal God by Timothy Keller and the Book of Philippians by NT Wright. Wednesday Footsteps–Is studying the Book of Luke. Part 1 - Grace Under Pressure: Early Years and Public Ministry and Part 2 - Grace Under Pressure: The Road to the Cross. Join us for fellowship, mission adventures, small group Bible study and life application.  Footsteps meets Wednesdays from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Contact Ginny Crook  for more information.

 Sisters in Christ –Is a group for women who enjoy studying the Bible and are inspired by good discussions and great fellowship.  This Fall we will start out with Outlive Your Life by Max Lucado. We meet from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Conference Room. Our morning also includes food, prayer and devotion.  Contact Helen Doyle at  .

Java With Jesus – Start your week off right with coffee and devotions.  Join us as we spend 5 minutes a day reading a devotion.  Then each Monday morning we get together for fellowship and discussion about what we’ve read. Bi-Monthly Opportunities

Moms in Touch: Praying for our children, teachers and schools. Moms and grandmothers come together regularly to pray through the four steps of prayer. I know you will find this time richly rewarding.  “No prayer experience necessary!” Meet in the Chapel from 9 – 10 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month, according to the HISD calendar. .Contact Robin Cassell at   (Childcare available upon request)

 

MOPS - Mothers Of Preschoolers–MOPS is an international program designed to help meet the needs of every mom - urban/suburban/stay-at-home/working/teen/single/married-those who may have different lifestyles, but who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS is about a sisterhood of women celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections and experiencing God's Love through relationships and resources. We provide encouragement and fun, small group discussion, creative activities, and nurturing child care.

MOPS FPC-Kingwood is open to every mom from pregnancy through their children's preschool years and meets on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month Sept. through May from 9-11:30 a.m. in Room 209 (childcare is provided).   For more information contact Sheri Frost at   or visit our website: http://fpck-mops.blogspot.com/.

MOMSNext Consists of former and graduated MOPS moms, new moms that never experienced MOPS, PTA moms, Bible Study moms, part-time and full-time working moms, church and un-churched moms, all types of school age moms.  We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evening at local restaurants throughout the year but during Wednesday Family Night we meet every week at the church. We follow MOPS curriculum and add our own relevant issues/topics to it to make it more age appropriate.  Contact: Paula Tobey at

Monthly Opportunities

Agape Circle– Is studying Unexpected Blessings: The Beatitudes Expanded.  We meet the 2nd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room. Our Circle is great for the working woman of all ages and stages.  Contact Carol Curtis .  

Dorcas Circle–  Is studying Unexpected Blessings: The Beatitudes Expanded.  We meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Parlor.  Our Circle is for all ages and stages.  Contact: Betty Ladish


Marytha Circle– is studying Unexpected Blessings: The Beatitudes Expanded. We meet in members’ homes  on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Our circle consists primarily of empty nesters or more mature women.  Contact June Smith   or Mary Tims t

Hannah Circle– is studying Traveling Light by Max Lucado.  We meet the 3rd Monday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in member’s homes.  Our group consists mainly of empty nesters and the more mature woman. Contact: Onnie Sherrer   

Lydia Circle–  Lydia Circle     members range in age, some with school age children and some who are empty nesters.  We meet the second Friday morning of each month from September - May in member's homes.  Fellowship begins at 9:00, followed by prayer and share at 9:30. Our book study and business meeting round out our meeting and we adjourn at 11:00.  Many members continue the fellowship and enjoy lunch together at various local restaurants.  Our 2012 study is Lazarus Awakening:  Finding Your Place in the Heart of God, by Joanna Weaver. 

Letting Go– A group of women that are moms of high school/college age kids who meet one Wednesday evening a month in a member's home to discuss relevant issues on how to raise and let go of our kids in these challenging times!  We are studying Secrets to Parenting Your Adult Child by Nancy Williams.  Contact: Laurie Jones   or Carol Dougherty 

CAWT– Calling All Women Together meets the first Thursday of each month for fellowship and a fun outing. Generally we meet in the church parking lot and carpool or use the church van.  Contact: Sue Plato  

 

MGM–Movie Going Mommas Evening goes to the movies every third Thursday evening of the month.
Led by Risa McCann .

MGM-Movie Going Mommas Daytime the 3rd Friday afternoon. Contact Gina Dickens – 

Heart to Home–women visit other women who are unable to get to church or just need an extra friend. Contact Kristen Wallace to volunteer for this “heartfelt” program at .  We are also accepting men into this program.

The Gathering Place is a once a month no cost program that offers caregivers a time of welcome respite from their day-to-day caring responsibilities.  It provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for adults living with memory loss caused by illnesses such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or stroke.  At each Gathering Place, participants make a craft, sing together, exercise, play games, enjoy special entertainment and have lunch.  At FPC-Kingwood we meet the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 AM - 1 PM.  The only qualification needed to be a volunteer is a loving.  More for information contact Helen Doyle,  


Every two months

Believer’s Readers Book Club - Meets every other month on the fourth Monday at 10 a.m. in member’s homes.  All women are invited to participate in the Book Club discussions.  Contact: Louise Hite at

Ment for Women– is women mentoring women. Volunteers mentor our newest members of our congregation and get them involved and make them feel at home.  We get together as a group twice a year. To volunteer contact Sandra Smith in the church office 281-360-5555 or
